Ambassador Rice supports UN Council briefing on Sri Lanka

Speaking at the Security Council Stakeout microphone, March 20, 2009 Ambassador Susan E. Rice, U.S. Permanent Representative, said US supports UN Security council briefing on Sri Lanka, and added: "The United States feels strongly about and concerned about Sri Lanka and we support the provision of it to the Council- a full and updated information on the humanitarian situation."

On March 19, UK Ambassador John Sawers told Inner City Press that the "European Union members" of the Council have made a request for a meeting in the Council on the topic of Sri Lanka. The Mexican and Costa Rican Ambassador have indicated they are actively supporting the request. China, described as "vehemently" opposing any Sri Lanka briefing, was said Friday by a Western diplomat to be asking for more time, "delaying the process," Inner City Press reported. Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC), Luis Moreno-Ocampo, when asked if he is considering action on Sri Lanka following Ms. Pillai's assertion that Sri Lanka has committed war crimes, replied that Sri Lanka is not a state party [to the ICC's Rome Statute], ICP reported. Ocampo has been criticized, most recently by the President of the UN General Assembly Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann, for seeking war crimes indictments only in Africa, ICP report added.Further, an ICC staffer traveling with Ocampo told Inner City Press that following Ms. Pillai's public statement about war crimes in Sri Lanka, the ICC opened a file, or database. But she repeated that Sri Lanka not being a member of the ICC creates jurisdiction problems, and noted that the Tamils have not even, as for example the Palestinians have, made a formal request for jurisdiction.

Chinese Communist Party is all set to celebrate “Tibet Serf Liberation Day” on March 28, 2009 in Tibet . In the run up to the celebration, CCP propaganda agents in the name of “Tibetan Delegation” are currently touring the world to showcase their crooked stories with free distribution of fabricated DVDs and deceptive literatures on Tibet . Yesterday, they had a press conference at Sheraton Hotel on Queens Street West here in Toronto . Some of us went there to counter their propaganda peacefully by trying to meet the press outside the entrance. We handed out the set of questionnaires to the journalist along with Jamyang Norbu la’s compiled historical fact sheets, copy Memorandum submitted to the Chinese Government in November 2008 as well as copy of human rights condition in Tibet circulated by Amnesty International. Although there were not many journalist from the mainstream media but they grabbed the opportunity to brainwash the Chinese media.
In order to give a fitting reply to the CCP’s plan to celebrate “Tibet Serf Liberation Day”, CTJAC will organize “Tibet Enslavement Day” filled with political theatres and screening of DIIR published DVD titled “ China ’s Brutality in Tibet Exposed” on Saturday the March 28, 2009 from Queens Park to the Chinese Consulate. Let us, once again, show our strength to the world in refuting CPP celebration and exposing their lies to the Canadians. The reality is completely different and people of the world should know about it.
There is also an unconfirmed report saying that these CCP agents will have a reception at the Queens Park (Ontario Parliament) on Monday the March 23, 2009 . Therefore, we might have to gear up for a protest against this shameful act of Ontario Liberal Government honoring these criminals inside Ontario Parliament at Queens Park .
